A Brief History of Arroyo Grande

Inhabited by the Chumash tribe and then established in 1862 by the San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors, Arroyo Grande is known as the gem of the Central Coast and for good reason. Things to See and Do in Arroyo Grande

Arroyo Grande activities taking a walk on the swinging bridge, shopping in the Village shops, and visiting the many parks, museums, wineries and farms. Watch a performance in the Clark Center theater. Take a short 10 minute drive east to Lopez Lake where you can go boating, fishing, water skiing, visit a water park, and camp.

Weekly events include Farmer's Market on Wednesdays in front of Spencer's Market and Saturdays in the Village. Seasonal Events include the annual Strawberry Festival on Memorial Day Weekend, the Harvest Festival in September, and the Christmas Parade in December.
