A Brief History of Oceano

Oceano is the gateway to the dunes. For many generations, people have been enjoying the fact that the sand is hard and flat enough to drive vehicles close to the shore. Since 1971 it has been the home to the popular State Vehicular Area where you will find locals and visitors alike having fun driving their off-road vehicles in the dunes and camping on the shoreline.

Things to See and Do in Oceano

Don't forget to visit the duck pond, the historic Oceano Depot, rent an ATV, or take a biplane ride from the airport. You can also take a horse ride through the dunes to the beach or do a little surf fishing.
